Cost wasn't actually the point - I got the highest end 2015 model I could find in stock anywhere and I paid a "premium" price to get one from OWC rather than one of the other, cheaper refurb companies. Other issues were ports, keyboard, et cetera. I knew I wanted a 2015 for so many reasons - one being that it was the last year Apple made a MBP which was even serviceable/upgradable by the end user. In this case, it was 2020 and I did not like Apple's current offerings. "Don't try to save money by buying a used piece of expensive electronics, ever." This is my first refurb experience and will probably be my last - I might consider getting one directly from Apple in the future because at least if I go that route I can get AppleCare and have the convenience and customer service of nearby Apple stores. Too bad for me - I've been too busy with work to ever consider sending the computer back for a week or more of diagnostics & replacement/repair, and I guess I just decided to "**** it up," stick to headphones, and think of it as a learning experience, i.e. They sound blown out and are basically unusable. Then, within a couple of months, both speakers had stopped functioning. Rating: 2/5 Speakers blew out and battery has ballooned up after less than two years JanuI thought I got a pretty great deal on a 2015 MBP 15" - out of the box it seemed like it was in great condition and the battery life was astonishing. I would advise to please install at Catalina or something and give user the option to upgrade as it's easier to upgrade than re-install a startup boot drive via USB. It's just awful and I will avoid with Charlton Heston gun-toting fervor. Monterey is all bubbly and filled with extra needless margin space which makes working laptop space incredibly cumbersome. I can't stand this Playskooling consumerfication of operating systems. I bought a Macbook PRO - as in professional. Also I hate the interface, it's like Disney bought Apple - hate it. I couldn't USB/Bluetooth tether, many of my apps didn't work. My one critique in building these out is, please don't install them with OS X Monterey.
